Approach

I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker – I have my Masters Degree in Social Work (UW 1988) and am Licensed by the State of Washington to provide psychotherapy services to my clients. I have more than 20 years of counseling experience – in a variety of settings, using a variety of methods. I am also an Adult ADHD coach, and a Creativity Coach. I am a parent, a wife, a friend, and a fellow seeker on the life journey with my clients.

I am very interested in the integration of Western Psychology with Eastern Spiritual Wisdom and helping my clients apply this integration to their daily lives. Mindfulness-Based therapies are the backdrop of my work with clients. I guide adult clients in developing their consciousness and inner knowing - to pay closer attention to their inner and outer lives on purpose. They are then freer to be more focused and intentional in their relationships, parenting, work lives – and to deal with their emotions more skillfully.

I frequently utilize Focusing, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in my work. Mindfulness-Based strategies continue to show positive and lasting results in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, attention and stress related issues – virtually any difficulty we face in our lives.

In addition, I draw upon over 20 years of therapy experience using psychodynamic approaches, family systems, gestalt methods, cognitive behavioral work, transpersonal counseling, and pragmatic coaching strategies. I have completed post graduate work in Buddhist Psychotherapy and this informs my work as well.

I am a certified coach in working with Attention Deficit Disorders in adults and I have also completed course work specifically in coaching artists.

I am a student in the Diamond Approach, a spiritual path towards realization. I have a regular meditation practice and I am a fellow traveler on the journey of practicing mindfulness in my daily life as a mother, wife, daughter, and friend. I look forward to meeting you!
