about me |
My ApproachMy approach is holistic; addressing issues of mind, body, emotions, and spirit. With authentic warmth and caring, I partner with my clients to explore and discover their essential inner wisdom and internal resources. Clients develop compassionate mindful attunement to their current experience and then use that information – prior to burying it with thoughts, feelings, problems, and interpretations – to hear their inner teacher, gain clarity, and take action in their lives. We will use mindfulness-based body centered methods in our work together. Our bodies are where we first experience our “felt sense” about all of our life encounters. Friendly and empathetic interest for this “felt sense” helps us to discover, understand, and heal the difficulties that are part of life. Mindful body centered therapy helps clients experience a deeper level of transformation that is lasting. I incorporate Focusing, Internal Family Systems, Gestalt methods, Voice Dialogue, and Lifespan Integration methods in my work. I am especially interested in the integration of Eastern and Western psychotherapy practices and the promise of neuro-psychological methods for many disorders. I work with individual adults desiring personal growth, facing issues of discernment, transitions, career and vocational questions, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, and addictive patterns. I lead workshops, conduct retreats and facilitate groups utilizing mindful-based approaches. My BackgroundI received a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Washington in 1988 and I have over 20 years of experience counseling and facilitating transformation with individuals, families, and groups. I meditate in the Vipassana tradition and I have completed coursework in Buddhist Psychology for psychotherapists. I am a student in the Diamond Approach, a psycho-spiritual path towards realizing our true nature. My passion for my work stems from a core belief that when we are wholly aligned, our best selves can become expressed in the world. I am a co-traveler on this journey and I look forward to meeting you! |
